Match Report By Stuart Ross
After spending the last few training sessions focused on defensive positioning and teamwork, it was time to put what we’ve learned into practice.
All I can say is: MASSIVE, MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT.
The team looked like they’ve been playing together for years, relying on each other to tackle, ruck, and support.
Watford Squad
Joey, Dexter, Grace, Lana, Cordelia, Ryan, Zack, Yll, Frankie, Rebecca, Rion, Nathan, and Alana.
Sunday’s Match Recap
The match began with impressive breakaways and well-supported tries. We defended strongly, stretching across the width of the pitch, with Dexter playing a floating full-back role, clearing up missed tackles. This new approach, minimizing bunching, reduced the number of breaks and tries conceded to a very organized Dunstable team.
Dunstable managed to score some good tries, but we held our heads high, knowing the game was firmly in our hands. At halftime, all games paused for a two-minute silence on Pitch 1 to honor Armistice Day and remember our fallen heroes.
The second half was just as intense. Both teams pushed hard, but we stood our ground, maintained positioning, and stayed focused. Fatigue was visible, but the squad kept fighting, and with rolling subs, they managed to finish strong.
Final Whistle
We positioned ourselves well, listened, tackled, supported each other, and finished with smiles on our faces. Well done, Watford! It was a fantastic game and a huge improvement. Let’s keep this up for the rest of the season.
