On Sunday, St Albans U11, brought six players. The coaches agreed to mix the teams for the first half. The game was close with the teams scoring reciprocal tries. The teams had to learn quickly, working with team mates they've never played with before. At half time, the score was roughly even.
In the second half, it was Watford versus St Albans, who loaned three Watford players. Watford grew in confidence and, by the end of the game, dominated. St Albans only managed to score a few tries, with Watford applying continual pressure and several players making breakaway runs. Watford won rucks, continually ripped the ball, prevented St Albans using the ball during mauls, and tackled consistently across the line.
Overall, it was an enjoyable game, with Watford leaving the pitch high fiving each other, and celebrating a well fought victory. The coaches were pleased to see the two most recent joiners scoring as well as over half the team, including nearly every girl.
Player of the match - Grace. Great support and two tries, including the last one of the game, when Watford were being pushed back, she ran nearly the whole length of the pitch while being heavily chasedy St Albans.
Most improved player - Nathan. Tries galore, great tackles, and always in the mix with rucks and mauls. Keep it up.
Jan (U11’s coach)
