Watford U14’s girls had a great welcome this Sunday from Ampthill. Watford was clustered with Dachworth, Enfield and Old Grammarian’s. This was the first time all 4 teams played together.
After a shorter than planned warmup and run through of moves the game was on. The Watford cluster came out of the blocks firing, attacking hard, looking close to scoring. However, Ampthill’s defence and counter rucking was too much and eventually turned the ball over and with a breakaway scored the first try.
For the next two quarters Watford defended and attacked well but Ampthill kept scoring break away tries. In the last quarter Watford’s newly formed team finally gelled together and started scoring at will, quickly scoring three tries.
Great day and a great welcome. The girls are looking forward to clustering with these teams again particularly with the improvement over the duration of just one game.
