Watford's 2nd XV's effort and performance showcased their resilience and teamwork in a high-stakes fixture.

Watford 2s travelled to Pinner for a crucial league and cup fixture, with both teams sitting joint top of the league. Despite being down to the bare minimum of 16 players, compared to Pinner’s full squad of 22, Watford were determined to put in a strong performance.

Pinner got off to a fast start, executing some well-worked plays to exploit space out wide and take an early 10-0 lead. In response, Watford captain Ben Wilson made tactical adjustments, focusing on dominating the breakdowns, which began to yield consistent penalties in their favour.

Vice-captain Aaron attempted a difficult penalty kick from just inside the 25m line on the touchline, narrowly missing. However, he quickly found his range, converting two subsequent penalty kicks from similar positions to narrow the score to 10-6 by halftime.

The game remained evenly poised until the 60th minute when Watford’s former head coach, Sean Silva, brought on some fresh legs from the bench. With Watford unable to make substitutions due to their limited squad, fatigue began to take its toll. Pinner capitalised on this, adding several tries to their tally.

Despite the physical toll and growing score-line, Watford 2s never let their heads drop. They continued to fight hard until the final whistle, showing immense character and determination. While the score-line ultimately favoured Pinner, Watford 2s can be proud of their effort and performance, which showcased their resilience and teamwork under difficult circumstances.
